Preserving our rich Mankon heritage while building a thriving community in the United Kingdom. Together we celebrate our culture, support our people, and create lasting bonds.
Preserving the rich history, traditions, and royal heritage of the ancient Mankon fondom
The Mankon fondom represents one of the oldest monarchies of the grassfield people in Cameroon's Northwest Province, with a royal lineage spanning over two centuries.
Our village was formed through the amalgamation of five different ethnic groups, creating a unique cultural tapestry. The fon (king) rules with hereditary rights, where succession passes to a designated son born during the reigning king's lifetime.
From the legendary battles against German colonial forces in the late 1800s to our vibrant cultural festivals today, Mankon people have demonstrated remarkable resilience, courage, and unity across generations.
Our village has been ruled by legendary fons including Fomukong (1799-1866), Fon Angwafo II and III, preserving royal traditions through changing times while maintaining cultural authenticity.
Our December cultural festivals feature traditional African music, expert drummers, and rare opportunities to interact with the fon, celebrating our heritage through vibrant displays of music and dance.
Mankon warriors famously defeated German colonial forces twice using traditional weapons against modern artillery, embodying the courage and determination that defines our people today.
